Creole Soul: Zydeco Lives brings together interviews and photographs documenting contemporary zydeco musicians in Louisiana and Texas.
Burt Feintuch speaks with performers from zydeco’s older French-music traditions and its changing contemporary scene, including Ed Poullard, Sean Ardoin, and Dwayne Dopsie. Their accounts explore musical inheritance, the influence of rap, and the shift from zydeco clubs to casinos and trailrides; Gary Samson’s color photographs capture the performers and their communities.
