Vic and Nat'ly first appeared in Dixie on January 3, 1982 — Vic with his perpetual five o'clock shadow, Nat'ly in her signature horn-rimmed glasses, statement earrings, and pointed hair-do. Created by Will Bunn "Bunny" Matthews, the strip captured the brash humor and linguistic character of New Orleans' Yat dialect, rooted in the neighborhood greeting "Where y'at?" This 1988 work in ink, pigment, and adhesive tape on paper is held in the permanent collection of The Historic New Orleans Collection.
