Tennessee Williams Annual Review 2009
In this issue, rare photographs from HNOC’s holdings step into the spotlight: revealing closeups taken during the filming of A Streetcar Named Desire. Two essays examine soldiers who have returned from war in Williams’s plays, and two essays offer comparisons of works by Faulkner and García Lorca to those of Williams. The semiotics of rape in his plays is considered, as well as Williams’s social conscience and his early experiences with the Mummers, a progressive theater group in St. Louis.
Founded in 1998, the Tennessee Williams Annual Review remains the only regularly published journal devoted to Williams’s works, influence, and cultural context. Many issues showcase a previously unpublished work by Williams. Learn more at https://hnoc.org/publishing/tennessee-williams-annual-review.
