This rosary by New Orleans artist John Hodge features turquoise magnesite nugget bead stations.

Used in Catholic devotion, rosary beads guide the sequence of prayers while allowing the mind to focus on the mysteries of the lives of Jesus and Mary. Hodge’s work in decorative pottery, milagros, and ex-votos draws on the devotional and folk traditions of New Orleans and beyond, a spirit reflected in these pieces.
