Jazz historian, educator, and clarinetist Michael White had studied under and performed for many years around the world with contemporaries of clarinetist George Lewis -- a central figure of the New Orleans revival of the '50s -- and this album serves as a centennial celebration of the birth of the Crescent City jazz legend.

"This may be a tribute to George Lewis, and all but two of the 13 tracks are songs either written or recorded by the legendary New Orleans jazz clarinetist, however, White and his fellow traditionalists inject plenty of their own spirit into the proceedings—while remaining true to the instrumentation and structural principles of classic New Orleans jazz." - Offbeat Magazine
